Ford has updated it’s best selling mid-size SUV for the year 2021. The new Explorer has got some minor tweaks and the brand has also added a sports appearance package. The price of Ford Explorer in the US market for the base variant is $33,225, while the mid-level trim XLT & limited are priced at $34,000 and $47,705. The price of the top-end trim ST and Platinum are $52,605 and $54,480 respectively. However, the Ford Explorer price in India will be different compared to the US market.
Its pricing will completely depend upon how Ford brings this SUV to India. If the brand chooses the SKD or CKD route, then it will be pricier as compared to the US variant. The taxes levied on SKD & CKD cars in India will add up to its price. But with the help of localized production of some parts, it could be priced sensibly.
The Ford Explorer price in India for the base variant is expected to be Rs 42 Lakhs, while the mid-level trims could be priced in the range of Rs 45-48 Lakhs. If the brand also launches the top-end trim, then the price of Ford Explorer in India for ST and Platinum variant could be between Rs 56-58 Lakhs INR.

Ford Explorer base, XLT and Limited trim are powered by a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, while the ST and Limited trim are powered by a 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged engine. The 2.3L 4-cylinder engine makes around 300 HP of maximum power. The 3.0L V6 engine on Platinum trim produces 365 HP and on the ST strim it produces 400 HP.
The new Explorer Limited trim also gets an option of hybrid powertrain like its competitor Toyota Highlander, that makes 318 horsepower. The new model rides on a rear-wheel-drive platform but you all have the option to choose 4WD. The Explorer offers good performance and smooth ride especially the ST trim. It comes with a decent amount of features and standard driver aids.
